One year ago tonight I brought home my first digital camera, a Sony F717.
Thousands and thousands (and thousands!) of pictures later, it's hard to imagine having ever been without it; I could
probably buy a small country for the amount of money I've saved in film and processing costs.
It's been great fun and certainly a learning experience; the F717 is a fantastic camera to have started out with.
I can't believe I haven't killed this thing yet!
P.S. No, this wasn't the safest photo shoot ever. It consisted of me standing in the bathroom in the dark with two candles. The camera (I shudder to think of this now) was sitting on a box which in turn was on a board spanning the sink. A candle was placed at the left edge of the box just behind the camera and another candle was sitting on top of a kleenex box to provide a little front light. In order to get the black background, I used a silk turtleneck which wasn't very big; I had to hold it up behind the camera while the shutter was open (which brought it dangerously close to the visible flame).
Yes, this is my standard operating procedure...
As I said, it's amazing that it's made it through one year with me!
